As a computational biologist specializing in data analysis and mathematical modeling, Xiaochan's expertise is developing quantitative methods to decipher the cell-cell communication governing cell fate transitions fundamental in developmental biology, regenerative medicine, and immunology.
Xin-Ya has a strong background in complex systems, AI, and computational neuroscience, with expertise in data-driven modeling, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. Her research focuses on combining physical methodologies with deep learning algorithms to reveal the simple laws underlying complex systems.
Yuhao is a postdoctoral researcher in computational biology. He has broad interests in machine learning and computational biology, with a focus on developing tools which will provide a deeper biological understanding by merging advancements in single-cell genomics and machine learning. His research focus is on understanding dynamical biological processes through the lens of single-cell omics data.
Jinyi is a postdoctoral researcher in developmental biology, with expertise in applying imaging-based single-cell analysis methods to investigate the spatiotemporal regulation of embryogenesis in the well-established model organism C. elegans. Her current research interests focus on exploring the driving principles of precision and robustness in embryonic development from a systems biology perspective.
Jing is a research assistant in bioinformatics. Her research focuses on integrating multi-omics datasets to reconstruct gene regulatory networks and identify master regulatory factors governing cell differentiation. Outside the laboratory, she enjoys observing animal and plant behavior, camping, and fishing.
Haoyuan is a visiting student in Chao Tang's lab. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2025. His research interests are large language models for biological languages and computer modeling of life behaviors.
Xiaowen is a PhD student of the Center for Interdisciplinary studies at the Westlake University. She previously earned a Bachelor of Biotechnology from Wuhan University in 2025. Her research interests focus on the mechanical force information and biological signals that drive embryonic morphology and cell migration during embryo development.
Yijin is a PhD student in Chao Tang’s lab. She was awarded a BSc (Hons) in Cancer Biomedicine from University College London in 2025. Her research focuses on cell fate decisions during embryonic pancreatic development. She also studies the mechanical and molecular logic of morphogenesis.
